Who are important to you?

Purab was on his phone talking to a friend from Germany and had his earphones on. Her aunt had got hurt from the bedpost and fallen on the ground. She yelled at Purab for help but he didn’t listen to her because of earphones. Luckily her son came to the room in search of a ball and saw her lying on the ground. He went to the other room to call Purab for help. Purab after hearing about his aunt rushed to help her. He said sorry, then lifted her and gave her first aid. Later everyone at home got to know about the incident and scolded Purab for being busy on phone and not reaching for help on time.

To be honest, in today’s digital world, it has become common to ignore people close to us and pay much attention and time to people on the internet. The Internet has indeed helped in bringing people far from us close. People have got some really good friends and connections online. It has helped us remove loneliness from our lives. However, it has also made people get away from people close to them. They would talk to people abroad and ask about their well-being but have no idea about the well-being of people near them.

It’s futile to teach such people because they would distance themselves from you if you say anything. From children to old people all have got trapped in the web of social media and the internet. In families, people might sit in the same room but everyone is busy with their phones.

Through this article, I want to say that if you too are ignoring your loved ones because of social media and the internet then please don’t do so. They are valuable and need your attention. They are the ones who would come to you first when you need anything. So, please spend some quality time with people close to you.
