Points to remember before going to the doctor
For a few days, my friend Arunas's son had a fever. In urgency, she went to the doctor and came to know that her son was suffering from Malaria.
Aruna took all the medicines prescribed by the doctor and came back home. After coming back home, she realized that she forgot to tell the doctor that her son would vomit few hours after eating.
Like Aruna, we too often forget to tell some points to the doctor, and other times, we don't understand what the doctor tells us.
Now, whenever you go to a doctor, keep these points in mind -
1. If you tend to forget important points regarding your problem to the doctor, then note them down on a piece of paper.
2. Clearly state the time when you feel unwell and what medicine you are taking currently.
3. If you are making appointments with the doctor regularly, remember to tell the doctor if the medicine prescribed to you has benefited you or not. Also, don't forget to state if you have seen any side effects from his prescribed drugs.
4. Tell the doctor your real age.
5. If you are meeting a doctor specialized in treating women's problems, don't hesitate to talk about your menstrual cycle and things relating to your married life.
6. If you have psychological issues, don't hesitate to talk about them openly to your doctor. Your mental health is as important as physical health.
7. If you don't understand when you should take medicines, ask about it clearly to your doctor. Don't live with doubts.
8. Some people change doctors often because they don't feel their work is helping them. Have patience. You should not overthink your problems. Don't change your doctor unless there is an emergency or if you really believe that the doctor is not helpful for you.
9. Always wear a mask and sanitize yourself before going anywhere.
Keeping these points in mind won't only benefit you but also help your doctor treat you properly.
